“He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”” – Matthew 17:20
How big is your faith??? Certainly if you have faith in Jesus Christ, your faith is big enough to save you. But is it big enough to move mountains? Are you even willing to try??? Sometimes we’re afraid to ask God for big things because we don’t want to be disappointed if He says no. We try to protect our small faith from disappointment or protect God from failing in our eyes. That’s not how we’re called to live!
The Bible certainly teaches us to pray in God’s will. We aren’t meant to treat prayer as a daily visit to Santa Claus. However, the Bible also teaches us to be bold and full of faith when we pray. We’re able to pray boldly and confidently because Christ reconciled us to God at the cross. Through Christ, we’re explicitly invited to come and pray boldly and honestly. We live by faith and must develop our faith muscles to pray in faith!
We mustn’t be afraid to ask God to move mountains for the sake of His Kingdom. Yes, He might turn us down or make us wait or give us something better, but we’ll never know until we ask in absolute faith. Christians sometimes have too little impact on this world because we’re afraid to ask the One Who wants us to make a huge impact for His sake!
Don’t be afraid to have and live big faith in God through Jesus Christ! He wants you to, invites you to, and His Word reveals what happens when His people learn to consistently live by Spirit-filled big faith.
