Keep Your Focus

“So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” – Hebrews 9:28

Don’t grow weary! Just as surely as Jesus was born in Bethlehem, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death on a cross to atone for your sins, rose from death, and rules from heaven, He WILL return. Jesus will appear on Earth a second time. When He does, it won’t be like the first time. It won’t be to deal with our sins. He’s done all that work. It also won’t be quiet. It will be unmistakable to everyone.

His next visit will be to complete the sanctification and glorification of His people and the renewal of creation. He will wipe away all the sin and evildoers on earth. He will usher in a world without the curse of sin. He will usher in the glorification of our bodies to be like His. He will usher in an eternity of joyful fellowship and service to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So, be patient – better days are coming!

Yes, this fallen world can be miserable at times. Our bodies, minds, and hearts inevitably betray us. We’re surrounded by sin and its devastating effects. We see and hear about horrors and disasters around the world. It can certainly be discouraging. Don’t let the noise and sufferings of the present distract you from the glorious future ahead. Keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus. Your Savior is with you. He loves you. He will one day be physically present and visible with you.

In the meantime, use these evil days well. Share your hope with those who have none. Offer the good news of Jesus to those overwhelmed by the world’s bad news. Live a quiet life of holiness and devotion. Use your gifts, talents, and treasure to serve the Lord. Worship and fellowship with other believers. Devote yourself to growing closer to Jesus. #FollowJesus
