From Comforted to Comforter

“Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” – 2 Corinthians 1:4

When you go through difficult times, seek comfort in the arms of your loving Father in Heaven. Know that God loves you and longs to embrace you as His child. Believe the truth that God is the God of all comfort and He will comfort you if you draw near to Him. Pursue Him. Spend time with Him in tearful prayer. Meditate on the promises of Scripture. Share your pain with your perfect Father Who loves you, knowing that He hears you. Seek His presence and know that He is always near to any of His people who are suffering and broken-hearted.

Once you reach the other side of your affliction, be a comforter to others. Once you know that God’s presence and promises are real, share that with others who are suffering. Recognize that God’s comfort to you prepares you to comfort others. Be their comfort. Draw near to those who are suffering rather than withdrawing from them. Be present for them and offer them the comfort of your presence and the healing balm of God’s Word. Give to others the supernatural comfort you have received yourself.

In this way, God’s people strengthen and guide each other to draw nearer to our Father. In this way, God’s people comfort each other to keep going. In this way, God’s people empower each other to overcome terrible things in the name of Jesus and to the glory of God. Be comforted. Be comforting. Don’t hold back. Rush toward those who are suffering and love them. Be the comfort they need in desperate times and the holy ambassador of God to them. #FollowJesus
